SpambotCheck IP Test-Helper
Introduction
The standalone plugin SpambotCheck comes with the tool plugin SpambotCheckTestHelper.
The standalone plugin SpambotCheck is a system plugin and is loaded early.
The tool plugin SpambotCheckTestHelper can fake a specified IP.
With the manually specified IP you can test whether your possibly complex regular expressions in the IP lists produce the desired results.
A dedicated tool plugin is not required to develop regular expressions for emails.
You can simply enter the email to be tested in the login dialog to see whether the rule with the regular expressions works.
You cannot test another IP in this simple way.
Note: Follow the instructions in the tool plugin 'SpambotCheckTestHelper'.
Note: Do not activate the tool plugin 'SpambotCheckTestHelper' in a production environment.
Note: Only activate the tool plugin 'SpambotCheckTestHelper' for testing and debugging purposes.
Installation
The standalone plugin ‘SpambotCheck’ is available for manual download on our website: Plugin SpambotCheck.
Note: Download the plugin installation and install the plugin parallel to Visforms on your Joomla instance.
Configuration
The simple configuration of the few parameters is done in the following steps:
- Open the tool plugin SpambotCheckTestHelper in the Joomla Plugin Manager.
- On the right-hand side, configure the Order option to the top position.
- Activate the tool plugin by setting the Status option on the right-hand side to Activated.
- Enter the desired IP in the Custom IP field.
- Set the Change Request IP option to ‘Yes’.
Emulation of the IP
The IP entered in the Custom IP field applies to every request that reaches the page.
The IP entered in the Custom IP field also applies to a user’s login and registration.
This allows you to test and check the correct function of your entries in the IP lists directly and immediately.
This eliminates the need to wait for an actual real attack with the IPs in question.
