Additional options for upload fields
Note: These features are part of the Visforms Subscription and are not included in the free Visforms version.
Show a link in the frontend
The field type File Upload has an option Show link in frontend.
This allows you to display a clickable link to the uploaded file in the data view in the front end.
This affects the data view in the frontend, which is done via the menu entry of the type Visforms » Data View.
Show link in frontend: No
In this case, just the name of the uploaded file will be displayed as plain text.
Show link in frontend: Yes
In this case, a clickable link is shown in the frontend. A Link display list box appears with 4 options for choosing the display of the link.
The 4 options for displaying the link are:
- File name (default)
- Complete URL
- Custom text
- File type icon
Link representation “file name”
If you choose the link display File name, only the file name appears as a clickable link in the data view in the front end.
This is the default.
Link display “Complete URL”
If you choose the link display Complete URL, the entire URL, including HTTP and domain name, appears as a clickable link in the data view in the front end.
Link display “Custom text”
If you select the link display Individual text, an edit field will also appear to specify the user-defined text.
The text entered here becomes a clickable link in the data view in the front end.
Note: Visforms placeholders can be used in custom text.
Link display “File type icon”
If you select the link display File type icon, an icon appears in the front end that is specific to the file type (file extension).
