Custom Field Labels
Note: These features are part of the Visforms Subscription and are not included in the free Visforms version.
The Visforms Subscription adds three parameters to form fields. These parameters allow you to further customize the display of field labels for data.
You can assign a separate field label for each of the following uses:
- Header of the CSV export file,
- Emails,
- Summary page of multi-page forms.
You can find these options in the field configuration on the Data Usage in the Frontend and Advanced tabs.
The Field Label Options
These parameters for the additional field labels can be found in the following locations in the field configuration:
- Field Configuration » Tab: Data Usage in the Frontend
Group: CSV Export Settings » Parameter: Additional Label for CSV

- Field Configuration » Tab: Advanced
Group: Email Settings » Parameter: Additional Label for Emails

- Field Configuration » Tab: Advanced
Group: Summary Page Settings » Parameter: Different label for summary page

The benefits of custom field labels
The following field types or field parameters are often used in forms to visually structure the form:
- Field type Field separator,
- Field type Page break, which are displayed as an accordion,
- Field parameter Custom text.
This information is not available in the email. You can use the Send data email form option to include all user input in the email with very little effort. In this case, Visforms appends the user input as “Field label: User input” at the end of the email. This can quickly become confusing for extensive forms structured as described above. Especially if short, non-self-explanatory, or ambiguous field labels are used.
An additional custom field label used only in the email offers a low-effort solution to this problem. You can now assign each field a unique email label containing additional information.
Similarly, a custom field label can be useful for CSV exports and the custom field label for the summary page of multi-column forms. You can now configure the export file/summary page more individually, regardless of how the fields are displayed in the form.
