Change of field order
Sorting by Order in Joomla’s list views is a standard found throughout Joomla.
The ordering in Visforms works like the ordering in Joomla.
In places where the order can be specified, there is the Order sorting in the sort list box.
When sorting by order:
- The black sandwich symbols (≡) appear.
- The order of the entries can be changed using Drag&Drop of the sandwich symbols (≡).
An example of this is the field list for a form.
Changing the field order in the form is done via the ‘Order’ sorting in the form’s field list.
Below is a detailed description based on the field list for a form.
Note: If sorting is done by order, the order of the entries can be changed using drag and drop.
Sorting ascending by ID
This setting shows sorting by field ID.
This corresponds to the time the field was created:
- Older fields have a smaller field ID.
- Newer fields have a larger field ID.
Sorting in ascending order
This setting displays sorting based on the order of the fields in the form.
Note: The order of the entries in the list and thus the order of the fields in the form can be changed using drag and drop.

The first name field was manually moved down one position using drag and drop.
The first name field now appears as a second field in the form, directly below the last name field.
